Grip Trip
Yesterday we had an awesome service where we announced the kick off of our missions trip to Chicago. We tried something new - we actually had two guests come and speak - via internet video chat. Travis Troyer and Don Stubbs from Grip Outreach for Youth in Chicago, IL talked about our missions trip and compassion in other people.
The missions trip to Chicago will involve service projects, feeding the homeless, and partnering with other youth from Chicago. The trip will be from June 14th - 20th. If you need information come to church on Sunday mornings at 10 am in The Warehouse or email hsm@newpointe.org to get you in the loop.
Before I go check out this video from Grip...

Wanted...What do I desire most?
Okay, so we all know what "worship" is - it's singing songs, right? Not really...in fact worship is more of a lifestyle than anything.
Check out this video...
Worship - to me - is more in how you think about God, not in how well you sing. Worship is more in the way you view your relationship with God than anything else.
Think about this - When you wake up what is the first thing you think about? Usually, this is a good indication as to what or who you are worshipping. If the first thing you think about in the morning is your friends then maybe you are putting them above God. If they very first thing that popps in your head is what you are going to wear or eat then maybe you worship those things.
Look at these questions...
1. What is your definition of worship - how would you explain it to someone who asked you "what is worship"?
2. Have you ever thought about your desires as not just something you want, but as something you worship? What seems funny about making that connection?
3. In your life, do you spend more time thinking about God or the things you want, the things you can't seem to live without?
4. Why do you think we trade in the promise of God to be satisfied for what is just dirt, or temporary? Why do you think that we desire too little and not too much?

Wanted...
We all WANT stuff, right? I mean, I (Matt) wanted stuff for Christmas. I wanted some new clothes, some money, and iTunes cards. I wanted stuff. No doubt you had the same experience this past Christmas.
You see, all of us have deep, deep needs in our lives. We have needs for love, needs for relationship, needs for food, needs for stuff, but really all of these needs alone will leave us ultimately unsatisfied.
Ultimately we will only be satisfied by an intimate relationship with the one who created all of these good things - Jesus. Having a relationship with him helps us feel satisfied and fulfilled.
This whole month we will be taking about our wants and needs - then at the end of this month we'll have a special speaker and make a big announcement about what is coming up this summer! Don't miss it!
